Conclusion: The presence of the PNPLA3 G allele is associated with a risk of NAFLD. Our study shows that subjects with variant PNPLA3 are not only at increased risk for the development and progression of NAFLD, but also have increased insulin resistance. PMID: 31304703 [PubMed - in process]
Authors: Ismaiil LA, Joumaa WH, Moustafa ME Abstract The excessive exposure of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) to electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from mobile phones or their base stations antenna may influence oxidative stress and development of diabetic complications. Here, we investigated the effects of exposing type 2 diabetic rats to EMR of 900 MHz emitted from GSM mobile phone antenna for 24 hours/day over a period of 28 days on hyperglycemia and hepatic oxidative stress. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups (12 rats/group): control rats, normal rats exposed to EMR, ...
TYPE 2 diabetes can cause a person to lose control of their blood glucose levels, making them too high. AbstractThe level of lactate in the blood is associated with obesity, blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes. In addition, lactate is a pro-inflammatory cytokine, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of cognitive impairment. However, the association between blood lactate, systemic inflammation, and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has not been investigated. The aim of the study is to explore this association in a Chinese population. This community-based cross-sectional study included 2523 Chinese participants aged 18 –88 years. Cognitive function was assessed using the Chinese version of the Mini-Mental...
ConclusionsNAFLD is a dynamic liver disease with varying degrees of progression and regression. T2DM was strongly associated with fibrosis progression. Non-invasive fibrosis scores such as AST/ALT ratio, FIB-4 score and NAFLD fibrosis score can identify those at risk of fibrosis progression.
This document is aimed at policy makers and education/service commissioners within the NHS in England and makes recommendations for how pharmacists can play an increasing role in the prevention, early detection, care and support of people with type 2 diabetes
