This study aimed to explore the correlation of circular RNA itchy E3 ubiquitin protein ligase (circ-ITCH) with pathological features as well as its predictive value on prognosis in prostate cancer patients. METHODS: Three hundred and twenty-four patients with prostate cancer underwent radical prostatectomy were consecutively included in this retrospective study, and patients' specimens of tumor as well as paired adjacent tissues were collected for detection of circ-ITCH expression. Patients' baseline characteristics and survival data were obtained from follow-up records, and correlation of circ-ITCH with patients' path...

PROSTATE CANCER is now a bigger killer than breast cancer in the UK. The disease develops slowly over time. If this sensation is felt when urinating it could mean you are at risk. Have you ever felt this before?

Contributors : Yuuki Imai ; Yuichiro SawadaSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensProstate cancer is a high frequent disease. Early stage prostate cancer can be cured with high probability by early treatment, but hormone refractory prostate cancer and progressive prostate cancer is poor prognosis. Orphan GPCRs have the potential to become a drug discovery target in various carcinomas, but there are few reports in prostate cancer and there are still many possibilities. By big data analysis, we focused on the biological properties of the prostate cancer cell line and found GPRC...

In conclusion, CD44 expression is significantly associated with tumor aggressiveness in prostate cancer and activation of IL-6 signaling leads to a suitable microenvironment for the induction of CD44 expression. Based on our study, reduced tumor burden was associated with attenuated IL-6 signaling and augmented tumor rejection in the microenvironment, which might mediate the benefit of clinical adoption with aggressive local therapy.

Androgen receptor (AR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor and a key driver of prostate cancer (PCa) growth and progression. Understanding the factors influencing AR-mediated gene expression provides new opportunities for therapeutic intervention. Poly(ADP-ribose) Polymerase (PARP) is a family of enzymes, which posttranslationally modify a range of proteins and regulate many...

In this study, an inhibitor-free form of KLK4 was crystallized. The crystals obtained belonged to space group P1, contained four molecules in the asymmetric unit and diffracted to 1.64   Å resolution. Interestingly, a nonstandard rotamer of the specificity-determining residue Asp189 was observed in all chains. This model will provide a useful unliganded structure for the future structure-guided design of KLK4 inhibitors.

The objective of this study was to compare the survival outcomes of Gleason score 3+4 and 4+3 based on data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results cancer registry database, and to investigate independent prognosis-associated factors and develop nomograms for predicting survival in Gleason score 7 prostate cancer patients. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 69,116 cases diagnosed as prostate adenocarcinoma with Gleason score 7 between 2004 and 2009. Prognosis-associated factors were evaluated using univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis, and a 1:1 ratio paired cohort by propensity sc...
