Severity of Salmonella infection among sickle cell diseases pediatric patients: description of the infection pattern:

ConclusionsMultiple site of infection ,sever osteomylitis, and delay in fever response consolidated the fact of high virulence of salmonella in SCD patients. We do not encounter significant resistant rate to both quinolone and cephalosporin.

In this work, we aimed to investigate whether natural compounds from a Traditional Chinese Medicine prescription called San-Huang-Xie-Xin-Tang exert its clinical efficacy by inhibiting inflammasome activation and the underlying mechanism. The inhibitory effects of compounds on...

This study aimed to investigate the effects of plasma-activated lactic acid (PALA) on Salmonella Enteritidis and beef quality. To improve the antibacterial efficiency of plasma-activated water (PAW), plasma-activated lactic acid (PALA) was prepared by treating lactic acid (0.05–0.20%) with a plasma jet for 40 to 100 s with subsequent application to the surfaces of beef slices (50 × 50 mm, approximately 10 g). Slices were analyzed for changes in surface color, pH, lipid oxidation and odor. In addition, secondary structure (β-sheet and random coil) of the beef protein was determined using Fourier t...

Al Dawsari MonaAbstractToxicity of cardamom and clove seed powder and extracted compounds against the red palm weevil, Rhynchophorus ferrugineus (Coleoptera: Dryophthoridae), was assessed in laboratory exposure experiments. The treatments comprised different amounts of seed powder of cardamom (0.8, 1, 3, and 5 mg) and clove (1, 3, 5, 7 mg.), and extract concentrations (0.2, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8) for both plants using ether petroleum or chloroform. Data showed that 5 mg of cardamom powdered seed resulted in 93% mo...

This study aimed to develop novel multifunctional soy protein-based packaging materials with the incorporation of cellulose nanofibril (CNF), Cedrus deodara pine needle extract (PNE), and lactic acid. The effects of the loaded components on the physical and functional properties of nanocomposites were evaluated. Results indicate that the incorporation of CNF into the composite enhanced its tensile strength due to the filling effects of CNF. The addition of CNF and PNE greatly enhanced the light barrier property of films. Moreover, the films containing PNE displayed strong antioxidant activity and significantly improved ant...

Khalil, Sami Qarawi, Neelamegam SivakumarAbstractFrom ecological and industrial perspectives, Anoxybacillus flavithermus species that lives in a thermophilic environment, are extremely important bacteria due to their potential in producing highly interesting compounds and enzymes. In order to understand the genetic makeup of these thermophiles, we have performed a comparative genomics study of 12 genome-sequenced strains of Anoxybacillus flavithermus bacteria. The genome size of Anoxybacillus flavithermus strains is fr...
