Bendopnoea in exercise limited patients with COPD

Dyspnoea on bending over (bendopnoea) is most commonly associated with systolic heart failure. COPD patients often also complain of bendopnoea but little is known about this symptom in this patient group. We objectively assessed 44 COPD patients attending pulmonary rehabilitation for bendopnoea in a tertiary referral centre to determine the potential mechanism and clinical implications of this symptom. Bendopnoea was assessed by timing the duration of onset to breathlessness on bending forward at the waist for 30  s.
