Want effective policy? Ask the locals

(Kyushu University) Based on a survey of over 100,000 respondents in 37 countries, researchers at Kyushu University in Japan report that regional economic, developmental, and cultural factors greatly influence the relationships among self-reported levels of energy affordability, life satisfaction, health, and economic inequality. The findings indicate that policy should be culturally aware with respect to each nation's residents to achieve the best results.
