Ileocolic anastomose. A rare complication of Valdoni technique
ConclusionValdoni technique surgical procedure, which allows the surgeon to keep the operating field clean. It is a valid alternative when the surgeons have to make a colonic anastomosis.
We report a rare case of acute bowel obstruction due to multiple bilateral deep intestinal endometriosis lesions localised in the ileum, ileocaecal valve and upper rectum, requiring synchronous resection in an emergency setting. A 42-year-old woman was referred to our clinic with a diagnosis of obstructing Crohn's disease based on abdominal computed tomography with oral contrast showing a thickened terminal ileum with stenosis, compression of the caecum and proximally dilated small bowel loops. Simultaneous ileocaecal resection and segmental resection of the upper rectum with handsewn end-to-end anastomosis between the sig...
Conclusion: Colonoscopy and CT are useful in diagnosing colonic intramural hematoma. The optimal treatment should be individualized according to different etiologies causing hematoma.
ConclusionPrompt clinical diagnosis and urgent surgical management are crucial for patient’s favorable outcome. The patient in our case study could be recovered by a combined modality therapy we provided.
Abstract Aerobic glycolysis plays a crucial role in cancer progression. Ketamine is often used for cancer pain relief in clinical settings. Moreover, ketamine inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in many cancer cell types. However, the anti-tumour mechanism of ketamine is still poorly understood. In the present study, we survey whether and how ketamine inhibits aerobic glycolysis in colon cancer cells. Glycolysis of colon cancer cells was determined by detecting the extracellular acidification rate in HT29 and SW480 cells. Quantitative real-time PCR was employed to determine mRNA expression. Calcium levels...
ConclusionWe believe that mesenteric defects should be closed after laparoscopic resection of the left side of transverse colon, regardless of their size.
ConclusionsAlthough liver metastasis should be the first provisional diagnosis in patients with advanced colon cancer, retroperitoneal schwannoma should also be suspected in the differential diagnosis of possible liver lesions.
It was a common enough reason for someone to have a CT scan. The order read, “Abdominal pain, colon cancer resected in January.” It was now March, only two months post-surgery. Yet the patient’s CT scan showed a number of large masses in the liver, consistent with metastatic cancer. I compared the current study to […]Find jobs at Careers by KevinMD.com. In conclusion, a case of synchronous existence of colon cancer, DLBCL, and MDS is reported, which suggests that careful attention should be paid clinically to checking the state of bone marrow for elderly cancer patients. Efforts are also needed to establish an effective system for distinguishing the origin of multi-existent cancers and to develop effective therapeutic regimens for multi-existent cancers with fewer side effects.
ConclusionValdoni technique allows the surgeon to keep the operating field clean. It is a valid alternative when the surgeons have to make a colonic anastomosis, doing open surgery.
