Soman, John J GeorrgeAbstractDPP-IV inhibitors have been immersed as promising pathway to treat Type 2 diabetes. Here we have reported designing of coumarin derivatives as DPP-IV inhibitors. Designed compounds have been studied for their binding with DPP-IV enzyme through molecular docking followed by synthesis. All synthesized compounds have been fully characterized and screened for DPP-IV inhibition activity. Two compounds showed very good inhibition at 10 μM concentration.

Authors: Mineoka Y, Ishii M, Hashimoto Y, Yamashita A, Nakamura N, Fukui M Abstract Diabetic foot ulcer is a major complication in patients with diabetes. Platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has been reported to have a predictive effect to some diabetic complications in recent years. However, it has not been fully elucidated about the relationship between diabetic foot risk or diabetic foot ulcer and PLR in patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate this relationship. In this cross-sectional study, we evaluated the relationships between patient's diabetic foot risk with the criteria of the Internati...

In this study, we evaluated ability of Pterostilbene (PTS), a methoxylated analog of resveratrol and a known antioxidant, to reverse palmitic acid (PA)-mediated IR in HepG2 cells. PTS prevented ROS formation and subsequent oxidative lipid damage by reducing the expression of NADPH oxidase 3 (NOX3) in PA treated HepG2 cells. Hepatic glucose production was used as a measure of IR and PTS reversed PA-mediated increase in hepatic glucose production by reducing expression of genes coding for gluconeogenic enzymes namely glucose-6-phosphatase (G6Pase), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) and pyruvate carboxylase (PC); and ...

In this study, we investigated the association between the solute carrier family 2 facilitated glucose transporter member 1 (SLC2A1) HaeIII polymorphism and DN in Korean patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) according to disease duration. METHODS: A total of 846 patients with T2DM (mean age, 61.3 ± 12.3 years; mean duration of T2DM, 10.3 ± 7.9 years; 55.3% men) who visited the Chungbuk National University Hospital were investigated. The HaeIII polymorphism of the SLC2A1 gene was determined by the real time polymerase chain reaction method. Genotyping results were presented as GG, AG, or AA. A subg...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that recent data for rosiglitazone-containing drugs, such as Avandia, Avandamet, Avandaryl, and generics, do not show an increased risk of heart attack compared to the standard type 2 diabetes medicines metformin and sulfonylurea.

ConclusionHigher levels of glutamate and lower levels of glutamine were associated with increased risk of T2D in a Spanish population at high risk for CVD. Mediterranean diet might mitigate the association between the imbalance of glutamine and glutamate and T2D risk. This trial is registered at http://www.controlled-trials.com, ISRCTN35739639.Graphical abstract

Women with GDM are at a high risk of developing both short- and long-term complications. Various studies have shown the heightened risk of type 2 diabetes among women with GDM. Despite clear evidence from published literature about the substantial risk that GDM imposes on women after delivery, rates of postpartum follo...
