Sulfasalazine ‑induced ferroptosis in breast cancer cells is reduced by the inhibitory effect of estrogen receptor on the transferrin receptor.

In conclusion SAS could trigger ferroptosis in breast cancer cells, especially in cells with low ER expression. Therefore, SAS is a potential agent for breast cancer treatment. PMID: 31173262 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionsThe findings suggest that a third sector organisation like BCH provides a support service that meets the expectations of the majority of those attending. Regular service evaluations are needed to ensure that people with breast cancer receive those aspects of care that are often lacking in the NHS setting.

Authors: Xu J, Zheng J, Wang J, Shao J Abstract MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are widely expressed in human cells and closely associated with various types of cancer, including breast cancer. miR-876-5p has been indicated to participate in the tumorigenesis of certain types of cancer, such as hepatocellular carcinoma. Nevertheless, the roles of miR-876-5p in breast cancer remain unclear. In the present study, it was revealed that miR-876-5p expression levels were decreased in breast cancer cells compared with a normal cell line. miR-876-5p ectopic expression suppressed breast cancer cell proliferation and arrested progression...

This study examined the anti-inflammatory properties of tanshinones. In addition, lipid-soluble compounds which were specific to Tanshinone class were also highlighted, out of which two compounds, dihydrotanshinone I and cryptotanshinone were selected with the aim of creating a new research perspective in order to further elucidate the mechanisms of the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases. Moreover, interaction analyses were carried out successfully to determine the interactions formed between both dihdrotanshinone I and cryptotanshinone, and target proteins. The bioactivity properties and various other pharmacokinetic a...

CONCLUSION: The proper treatment of pleural effusion can be determined only after meticulous differential diagnosis. The range of therapeutic options has recently become much wider. More data can be expected in the near future concerning diagnostic test- ing for the etiology of the effusion, better pleurodetic agents, the development of interventional techniques, and the genetic background of the affected patients. Publication date: November 2019Source: Materials Science and Engineering: C, Volume 104Author(s): Lalit Chudal, Nil Kanatha Pandey, Jonathan Phan, Omar Johnson, Xiuying Li, Wei ChenAbstractThe efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) is reduced in the context of hypoxic environments. This is problematic, considering that hypoxia is exhibited in the vast majority of malignant tumors. Thus, increasing the concentration of oxygen in malignant tumors improves PDT treatment outcomes. Studies show that MnO2 nanoparticles can produce oxygen when it reacts with endogenous H2O2. Herein, we encapsulated Protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) in the...
