We thank Professor Hutson for his interest in our study and for investigating other possible solutions for this association. Genetics could play an important role in this, although we could not verify this with our patient data because there were no significant differences in genetic anomalies in the patients with or without an UDT. We did not find an association with the syndromal CDH patients, because most CDH with an UDT had an isolated CDH. WT1 is known to be associated with an UDT/ urogenital anomalies and could have a factor in this association with a CDH, which is interesting to explore further.
