A tablet-based model to simulate the interaction between extrinsic forearm and intrinsic hand muscles.
[A tablet-based model to simulate the interaction between extrinsic forearm and intrinsic hand muscles]. Handchir Mikrochir Plast Chir. 2019 Jun;51(3):218-220 Authors: Andreou A, Ganser J Abstract The interaction between different muscles needed to perform specific tasks with our hands is more complicated than one might think. We have composed a tablet-based model that is intended to motivate users to "design" specific functional grips making weighted use of the available tools, i. e. the extrinsic forearm and intrinsic hand muscles. The solutions provided for the various tasks are not exhaustive as there is no validated database for most non-standard grips. Our motivation for creating this model was to contribute to further education and to add fun to our daily work. PMID: 31167285 [PubMed - in process]

Low temperature heat capacity measurements have been also performed between 0.4 K and 25 K to investigate along with low frequency Raman scattering the behavior of the low-energy vibrational dynamics. A progressively decreasing intensity of the...
Authors: Ring B, Burbank AJ, Mills K, Ivins S, Dieffenderfer J, Hernandez ML Abstract Objectives: Objective measurements of asthma impairment could aid teens in recognition of changes in asthma status over time. Ready access to a conventional spirometer is not realistic outside of the clinical setting. In this proof-of-concept study, we compared the performance of the VitalFlo mobile spirometer to the nSpire KoKo® sx1000 spirometer for accuracy in measuring Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1) and Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) in adolescents with asthma. Methods: Two hundred forty pulmonary function measu...
