Request for Applications for Clinical and Translational Research on Pediatric Lupus Health-Related Quality of Life Award Amount: $120,000 Letter of Intent Deadline: February 22, 2013 at 5 p.m. ET On behalf of the Michael Jon Barlin Pediatric Research Program, LFA issues this RFA in memory of Lucy Vodden to address key issues relevant to lupus in pediatric and/or adolescent populations. Lupus in children tends to be more severe and often involves multiple organ systems. Drug treatment of children with lupus comes with important ramifications for their biological, psychological, and social development that have not been adequately studied. The care of children with lupus also involves lifelong strategies for disease management, which become especially important during transitions to adolescence and adulthood. This RFA seeks applications whose research outcomes will significantly enhance current understanding of the care of children with lupus and their special needs in areas relevant to biology and education, social and psychological support, and successsful transitions to adolescence and adulthood.
