Abnormal heart rhythm linked to parathyroid hormone & vitamin D levels
According to data, published inNutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases, people with high parathyroid hormone but low vitamin D levels are more susceptible to atrial fibrillation.Healio
The objective of this study was to analyze how the features of the course of the diseases and management of HF + AF influence the clinical outcomes. Methods: The data of 1,003 patients from the first Russian register of patients with chronic heart failure and atrial fibrillation (RIF-CHF) were analyzed. The endpoints included hospitalization due to HF worsening, mortality, thromboembolic events, and hemorrhage. Predictors of unfavorable outcomes were analyzed separately for patients with HF and preserved ejection fraction (AF + HFpEF), midrange ejection fraction (AF + HFmrEF),...
Conclusion: The proposed approach successfully inferred β within the physiological range. This is the first report of an approach quantifying LVDF from routine monitoring data in critically ill AF patients. Provided future successful external validation, this approach may offer a tool for minimally invasive online monitoring of this crucial parameter. PMID: 31223333 [PubMed - in process]
CONCLUSIONS: CCTA is a suitable alternative to TEE for device surveillance post-LAAC. CCTA was more sensitive than TEE for assessing PDL and can delineate the cause of residual LAA contrast patency. PMID: 31217149 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusion: This was the first study evaluating the prognostic power of delta hs-cTnT in predicting AF recurrence after repeat PVI. Delta hs-cTnT does not predict AF recurrence after repeat PVI procedures. Systematic measurement of hs-cTnT after repeat PVI does not add information relevant to outcome. ConclusionDecreased LnRHI was associated with AF recurrence after CA and prolonged AF duration.

This report describes a rare case of an aorto-cardiac fistula in a six-year-old French Warmblood mare presented with atrial fibrillation, decreased performance, ventral oedema, bounding arterial pulsation and pathological jugular venous pulse. A 2.7 cm diameter fistula connected the right aortic sinus of Valsalva to the right atrium. Atrial fibrillation was likely due to volume overload of the right heart due to left-to-right shunting. The horse was treated by percutaneous transcatheter closure of the fistula delivered under general anaesthesia using a transarterial approach. The operation was initially successful and clin...
Conclusion: The ECG rhythms produced by smartphone accessory have a good diagnostic accuracy in diagnosing arrhythmias. The utility of using S-ECG-R for out-patient is to be determined. PMID: 31219492 [PubMed - in process]
