prevalence of obesity has reached epidemic proportions. Obesity is a known risk factor for GERD, BE and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). Bariatric surgery has emerged as an effective treatment for patient with morbid obesity. Most patients undergo preoperative EGD to rule out major GI pathology before bariatric surgery. We hypothesized that the morbidly obese patients have a high prevalence of BE.
