Su1178 CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT NON-TARGET LESIONS DETECTED DURING EGD PERFORMED PRIOR TO UPPER EUS

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is an important, increasingly utilized diagnostic and management tool for a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. There are no consensus guidelines as to whether routine esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) should be performed prior to upper EUS, and previous studies are conflicting. While some authors have shown that EGD increases the detection of clinically significant upper GI lesions at the time of EUS for pancreaticobiliary and mediastinal indications, others have argued that linear EUS alone is adequate for luminal tract evaluation.
