This study aims to analyze the prognostic importance of serum PSA response in patients who received radioligand therapy (RLT) with Lu-177 Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for their castration-resistant prostate cancer. METHODS: Thirty consecutive patients who received Lu-177 PSMA treatment for their castration-resistant prostate carcinoma were included. All the patients had undergone Ga-68 PSMA PET/CT scanning before Lu-177 PSMA therapy, which revealed multiple metastases. Patients were treated with a fixed dose (180 mCi) of Lu-177 PSMA at six to eight weeks intervals. Prostate specific antigen (PSA) response ...

AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo critically review the potential clinical applications of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) radioactive ligands in renal cell carcinoma (RCC).Recent FindingsRadioactive probes targeting PSMA hold promise in several malignancies in addition to prostate cancer, owing to the expression of PSMA by tumor neovasculature. The majority of clear cell RCCs (ccRCC), the most malignant RCC subtype, express PSMA on tumor-associated neovasculature. The endothelium of less aggressive RCC subtypes is PSMA positive in a lower, but still significant percentage of cases. PSMA might therefore represent an in...

Tansel Cakir, Selcuk Guven, Bahar Muezzinoglu, Cengiz Erol, Mustafa Yucel Boz, Tamer AtaseverUrology Annals 2019 11(4):439-442 While 68Gallium prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography (68Ga-PSMA) has demonstrated increasing utility in the evaluation of prostatic carcinoma, it is essential to be aware of false-negative findings. Further subtype analyses of prostate cancer will be helpful in the understanding of the underlying reasons. We herein present a high-grade prostate adenocarcinoma, with metastatic lesions showing high 18F-labeled fluoro-2-deoxyglucose uptake instead of 68Ga-PSMA.

However, the roles of MIEN1 in prostate cancer have not yet been clearly addressed. We determined the expression, biological functions, and regulatory mechanisms of MIEN1 in the prostate. The results of immunohisto...

AbstractBackgroundDigital biomarkers allow for continuous remote patient monitoring and will potentially change the way healthcare is provided and clinical trials are designed. We conducted a study to identify current preferences and interest in digital biomarkers in patients with advanced urological cancers.MethodsWe included 80 patients undergoing systemic therapy for advanced urologic malignancies at our institution. A questionnaire was developed to survey the current access to online information and digital technologies and to rate preferences on a scale from 1 (does not apply) to 5 (fully applies). Statistical analysi...

ConclusionsSCCs are enriched for 11q13+ with preliminary evidence for linking them to HPV- status. The co-occurrence of 11q13+ with both ESR1 and AR mutations suggests a co-operative role in acquired resistance to hormonal therapy, but not to TKIs. Further investigation will be 11q13+ in the development of SCC and acquired resistance to hormonal therapies appears warranted.Legal entity responsible for the studyFoundation Medicine.FundingFoundation Medicine.DisclosureJ.Johnson: Consultant: Foundation Medicine Consultant: Rakuten-Aspyrian. ConclusionsAs clinically available biomarkers of IDC have reported sensitivities/specificities of ∼80%, we here identified IDC with accuracies ≥85%. Since our classification model was trained on a cohort and independently tested on the other two, these are likely to be close to real life experience making clinical implementation a realistic outcome.Legal entity responsible for the studyThe authors.FundingCentre de Recherche du Centre Hospitalier de l ’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM, continuum program) IVADO, Institut de valorisation des données.DisclosureAll authors have declared no conflicts of interest.

Authors: Chen D, Fan N, Mo J, Wang W, Wang R, Chen Y, Hu J, Wen Z Abstract Background: Patients with esophageal cancer (EC) frequently have multiple primary cancers. We conducted the present study to assess the risk of multiple primary malignancies for patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and adenocarcinoma (AC) of the esophagus and to investigate the influence of multiple primary tumors on the prognosis of EC patients. Methods: Using the data of 44,091 EC patients from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database, we calculated the standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) for overall multip...

Purpose of review During the last 15 years several updates in the Gleason grading have been made. With the help of pertinent research results pathologists have gained a better insight into the meanings of several prostate cancer (PCa) patterns and know better how to classify them in the Gleason grade system. Recent findings During the last years PCa with cribriform architecture has be given much attention. Many data have also been published about the meaning of comedonecrosis and its relationship with Gleason pattern 4 and 5. The correlationship between comedonecrosis and intraductal PCa has also been highlighted in t...
