4FMFES-PET in ER+ lobular breast cancer: revealing what FDG-PET could not

Conclusions: The cases of the three patients reported here would have been completely misdiagnosed using examinations based on conventional practice. The current trial suggests that combined FDG and 4FMFES PET would allow increased sensitivity, better diagnostic confidence and adequate staging for breast cancer. Finally, 4FMFES-PET is particularly useful for adequate assessment of ER+ lobular breast cancers, especially in cases where FDG-PET yields ubiquitous results.
