In this study, we have used a novel DNAzyme based approach to create a larval model of FXS in zebrafish with specific focus on the early developmental window.MethodsFmr1specific DNAzymes were electroporated into embryos to create theknockdown. Changes in RNA and protein levels of FMRP and relevant biomarkers were measured in the 0-7dpf window. Behavioral tests to measure anxiety, cognitive impairments and irritability in the larvae were conducted at the 7dpf stage. Drug treatment was carried out at various time points in the 0-7dpf window to identify the critical window for pharmacological intervention.ResultsThe DNAzyme b...

This study aimed to investigate the risk behaviors of adolescents with T1D and the effect of orthorexic eating behaviors (OEB) on glycemic control (GC). Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 107 adolescents with T1D who were between 13-18 years of age and attended high school. The risk behavior scale (RBS) and orthorexic behavior scale (ORTO-11) were administered to the participants. A high RBS score indicates risky behavior; a low ORTO-11 score suggests a tendency to OEB. At the same time, participants were tested for GC and categorized as optimal GC (HbA1c ≤7%) or poor GC (HbA1c>7%). Result...

AbstractIntroductionAlthough it is well-known that several factors such as symptoms and cognition are related with functional outcome in schizophrenia, the complex nature of the disorder makes necessary to study their interaction by means of a more an...

Exposure to this compound during pregnancy and early childhood has been indicated as a risk factor for neurodevelopmental disorders. We evaluated the long-term effects of embryonic PM exposure in different stages of zebrafish development. Briefly, embryos (3 hpf) were exposed to sub-lethal c...

ConclusionsThese findings provided only modest support for the temporal dynamics of positive emotion conceptualization because they revealed no evidence for: 1) specific anticipatory pleasure deficits in schizophrenia-spectrum participants compared to controls; 2) significant reductions in anticipatory pleasure relative to consummatory pleasure in schizophrenia-spectrum participants.
