Regarding “Risk Factors for Postoperative Opioid Use in Arthroscopic Meniscal Surgery”

I read with great interest the article of Jildeh and colleagues in a recent issue of the journal.1 The authors performed a retrospective study involving 735 patients and concluded that in patients undergoing arthroscopic meniscal surgery, the chronicity of preoperative opioid intake and degree of knee osteoarthritis were found to have significant effects on postoperative opioid use. The authors should be applauded for performing a well-designed study in an important topic (e.g., opioid use) in patients undergoing surgery.
