Pharma firm to pay $3.5M to resolve kickback claims

A Chester County pharmaceutical company agreed to pay the U.S. government $3.5 million to resolve allegations that it provided kickbacks to doctors to get them to prescribe the company's dermatology drugs. The settlement resolves allegations that between 2012 and 2017, Exton-based Aqua Pharmaceuticals, which now operates as Almirall LLC, provided physicians with in-office and out-of-office meals and food items, entertainment, trips, gift cards and gifts to induce the doctors to write prescriptions…
