Bloodstream infections caused by carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii: clinical features, therapy and outcome from a multicenter study
In recent years, bloodstream infections (BSI) due to multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumannii (AB) have been increasingly observed among hospitalized patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), surgical and medical wards.1 –3 MDR-AB has been defined one of the top priority pathogens by the World Health Organization4,5; specifically, in Italy an increased incidence of MDR-AB was observed in the last years.6
