Long term reproductive outcomes after hysteroscopic treatment of dysmorphic uteri in women with reproductive failure: an European multicenter study

CONCLUSIONSOur long-term follow-up data demonstrated that the hysteroscopic correction of dysmorphic uterus may result in high live birth rate in women suffering from unexplained infertility or repeated miscarriages.

Authors: Park YG, Choi J, Seol JW Abstract During pregnancy, the uterus undergoes intense neovascularization and vascular remodeling to supply oxygen and nutrients to the embryo. During this period, progesterone secreted from the ovary has effects on vascular remodeling in the endometrium and interacts with angiogenic factors. However, the exact mechanism of uterine vascular remodeling during pregnancy is poorly understood. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the association between angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2), one of the angiopoietins, and intrauterine vessel remodeling during pregnancy, and to d...

Conclusion: These observations definitively demonstrate an important role of PFN1 in mediating cell-cell adhesion during the initial stage of embryo implantation and suggest a potential therapeutic target or novel biomarker for patients suffering from implantation failure. Authors: Wood SH, Sills ES Abstract The inverse correlation between maternal age and pregnancy rate represents a major challenge for reproductive endocrinology. The high embryo ploidy error rate in failed in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles reflects genetic misfires accumulated by older oocytes over time. Despite the application of different follicular recruitment protocols during IVF, gonadotropin modifications are generally futile in addressing such damage. Even when additional oocytes are retrieved, quality is frequently poor. Older oocytes with serious cytoplasmic and/or chromosomal errors are often harvested f...

CONCLUSIONS: Better staff training focused on care bundles preventing infections, better medical training focused on less efforts for CVC insertion, and the use of Ultrasounds during the CVC insertion may be the main factors that can lead to lower CLABSI rates in obese patients. Further research relating CLABSI rates in ICU patients and obesity is needed. PMID: 32468303 [PubMed - in process]

The aim of this study was to compare the placental gene expression profiles including mRNA and lnRNAs from pregnant women from four study groups; PE, IUGR, PE-IUGR and normal pregnancy (NP). Gene expression microarray analysis was performed on placental tissue obtained...

CONCLUSIONS: There is limited evidence to determine the role of myomectomy for infertility in women with fibroids as only one trial compared myomectomy with no myomectomy. If the decision is made to have a myomectomy, the current evidence does not indicate a superior method (laparoscopy, laparotomy or different electrosurgical systems) to improve rates of live birth, preterm delivery, clinical pregnancy, ongoing pregnancy, miscarriage, or caesarean section. Furthermore, the existing evidence needs to be viewed with caution due to the small number of events, minimal number of studies and very low-quality evidence. PMID...

Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the two procedures for uterine septum dissection: resectoscopy with monopolar knife versus small-diameter hysteroscopy fitted with a bipotrode 5 Fr reusable bipolar electrode. Design: This was a randomized controlled study. Setting: The study was conducted in a tertiary university fertility care unit. Main outcome measures: Operative parameters (the use of general anesthesia, cervical dilatation, operative time, volume of fluid used for uterine distention, complications, and need for reseptoplasty) and reproductive outcome parameters (pregnancy, abortion, preterm delivery, an...

Chan , Heng Hao Tan Septate uterus is the most common congenital uterine anomaly encountered clinically. It is associated with infertility and adverse pregnancy outcomes including miscarriages and preterm births. Over the past few decades, the diagnosis and surgical management of uterine septum has changed significantly. Here, we present two women with complete vagino-uterine septum presenting with infertility. The diagnoses of septate uterus were made through three-dimensi...
