Yet Another Six SMACCers!

PK SMACC-talks are turning into the FOAM equivalent of the Ginsu steak knife — there’s always more! First up, Colin Parker (@empemorg) of the original paediatric emergency medicine podcast empem.org — and one of my buddies and teachers from back in Perth — reduces the terror of paediatric emergency medicine to 400 seconds of clarity in PEM for Dummies. Colin, why didn’t you tell me this earlier? Nat Thurtle (@turtle1doc) is an ED doc and former Heavy Metal adviser to MSF (did I miss a word in there somewhere?), and another friend and colleague of mine — this time from the Liverpool DTMH and Alice Springs. Her talk on Heavy Metal Poisoning casts light on an area we all could know more about. Hmm, it’s starting to look like I’m badgering all my mates into making these talks… Seth Trueger (@mdaware), who has featured on LITFL before, managed to find respite from changing the nappies of his newborn long enough to send in Capnography: A Primer (or kept rediculously simple)  — this is core critical care knowledge served up as a meal ready to eat. Get stuck in. Hospitalisation against the will – in search of Middle Way is a fascinating talk by Gregor Prosen (@gregorprosen). Managing the agitated, aggressive or psychotic patient is a tricky proposition anywhere in the world, including Slovenia where most emergency docs work in the prehospital environment.
