Pregnancy Monitoring After Tubal Reversal Surgery

Early pregnancy monitoring is an important step when trying to conceive after reversing tubes. The reason for early pregnancy monitoring is to prevent a tubal pregnancy from progressing to the point of rupturing the fallopian tube. Because of the risk of tubal pregnancy (approximately 10-15 percent) following tubal reversal surgery, it is important to notify your obstetrician-gynecologist and Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center as soon as you have a positive pregnancy test. The Pregnancy Report Form can be filled out online and a staff member will follow-up within 24 hours. The HCG (pregnancy hormone) levels should be drawn twice a week until the level has reached 1500. A vaginal ultrasound should then be completed to ensure that there is a gestation sac in the uterus. Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith want to be kept informed about all patient pregnancies. Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal nurses are available if there are questions or concerns about early pregnancy monitoring.
