Physician Visits at the Nursing Home: Does More Mean Better Care?

The quality of care in the nursing home setting has attracted significant attention in recent years, especially when it comes to end-of-life care. In particular, there is a nexus between clinical burden, organizational context, and the quality of care in the nursing home.1 In broad terms, organizational context can be categorized into 2 domains: systemwide processes and human behavioral factors. The systemwide processes are often multi-pronged and complex, and it is often difficult, if not impossible, to attribute the benefits of any individual process within the system.
