Diagnostic value of plasma expression of microRNAs complementary to Drosha and Dicer in lung cancer patients.

CONCLUSIONS: We have proved that the expression of miRNA-27a-3p, miRNA-31, miRNA-182, and miRNA-195 in patients with LC is different from the expression of these molecules in healthy people. The examination of these microRNAs in plasma could be used in non-invasive lung cancer diagnosis. PMID: 31115013 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion In patients with advanced non-squamous NSCLC, the feasible dose of apatinib given with standard-dose pemetrexed and carboplatin was 500  mg/day schedule 2/1. The schedule was generally well tolerated and demonstrated promising clinical benefit in NSCLC.

This case report highlights that multidisciplinary treatment planning is critical for stage IIIb –IV non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients in the era of highly effective treatments, including chemotherapy, molecular targeted therapy, and immunotherapy, which may demonstrate treatment‐free remission (TFR) even in highly selected advanced lung cancer patients with poly‐metastases, a nd we need more information about the association between each genetic alteration and the significance of salvage surgery. The prognosis of stage IVb non ‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with multiple distant metastase...

We assessed four anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) ‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients who were treated with ALK‐tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). They developed brain radiation necrosis and brain oedema after stereotactic irradiation. Here, we report the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab given in combination with ALK‐TKI s for brain radiation necrosis in ALK‐positive NSCLC. Central nervous system (CNS) metastases from anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) ‐positive lung cancer often results in failure of ALK‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) therapy. Patients with uncontrolled CNS metastases rece...

CONCLUSIONS: Several similar case reports reported in literature show an increasing rate of toxicities from immunotherapy in this setting. These real-world data provide an insight into patient outcomes and treatment decisions being made in clinical practice. PMID: 31221037 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Yeh SJ, Chang CA, Li CW, Wang LH, Chen BS Abstract Non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the predominant type of lung cancer in the world. Lung adenocarcinoma (LADC) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) are subtypes of NSCLC. We usually regard them as different disease due to their unique molecular characteristics, distinct cells of origin and dissimilar clinical response. However, the differences of genetic and epigenetic progression mechanism between LADC and LSCC are complicated to analyze. Therefore, we applied systems biology approaches and big databases mining to construct genetic and epigenetic n...

In this study, we have newly developed three types of assay which have enough sensitivity to detect cfDNA. We also detected T790M in 44% of patients who failed prior EGFR-TKI treatment, indicating that cfDNA-based assay has clinical relevance for detecting acquired mutations of EGFR. Background: Rural populations of the United States have not experienced a similar degree of decline in lung cancer mortality recently seen nationwide. Several investigations examining survival differences in rural lung cancer patients have been incongruent. We investigated the association of rural residence with survival outcomes and receipt of guidelines-concordant treatment in early-stage non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: Retrospective study of National Cancer Data Base patients with NSCLC diagnosed from 2004 to 2015. Comparisons of survival outcomes and guidelines-concordant management with lobecto...

ConclusionThis study demonstrated ‘proof of principle’ that daily moderate-to-high intensity cycle ergometer exercise was feasible, safe and well tolerated among newly diagnosed patients with locally advanced NSCLC undergoing concomitant chemoradiotherapy. Larger randomized controlled trials are warranted.
