Conditionally replicative adenovirus carrying shRNA targeting EZH2 inhibits prostate cancer growth and invasion. Oncol Rep. 2019 May 13;: Authors: Xu SG, Yu JJ, Shi Q, Niu Q, Guo Z, Guo BY, Zhou GC, Gu X, Wu YX Abstract The present study aimed to construct conditionally replicative adenovirus (CRAds) carrying small hairpin (sh)RNA targeting enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), in order to study its effect on inhibiting prostate cancer (PCa) cell growth and invasion. Immunohistochemical analyses of EZH2 was performed in tumor tissue samples from PCa and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). The human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) promoter was chosen to transcriptionally control EZH2 gene expression to obtain adenoviral replication (Ad‑hTERT‑EZH2shRNA) in human PCa cell lines. The inhibitory effect of Ad‑hTERT‑EZH2shRNA on EZH2 expression was evaluated by reverse transcription‑-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot analyses. Cell Counting Kit‑8 assays were used to examine the effects of the Ad‑hTERT‑EZH2shRNA on cell proliferation. Transwell Matrigel invasion assays were used to detected cell invasion. Immunohistochemistry showed that EZH2 staining was stronger in castration‑resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) samples, compared with androgen‑dependent prostate cancer (ADPC) samples, and was absent in BPH. Furthermore, EZH2 expression knockdown suppressed PCa cell proliferation and invasion. In addition, it was found...

Abstract Objective: The main goal of our study was to assess the impact of vascular procedures on the activity of hemostatic and fibrinolytic pathways. Methods: We enrolled 38 patients with ≥ 45 years old undergoing surgery for abdominal aortic aneurysm or peripheral artery disease under general or regional anesthesia and who were hospitalized at least one night after the procedure. Patients undergoing carotid artery surgery and those who had acute bypass graft thrombosis, cancer, renal failure defined as estimated glomerular filtration rate

Abstract It was assessed the intake and prevalence of inadequate nutrient intake according to weight status among Brazilian adults from urban areas (n=16,198) evaluated in the Brazilian National Dietary Survey (NDS – 2008-2009), that obtained food records from two non-consecutive days. The prevalence of inadequate nutrient intake according to weight status was estimated based on Brazilian and international recommendations, in which usual intake was estimated applying the National Cancer Institute method. From 14 nutrients evaluated, six differed according to weight status in men, and only two among women. For men, th...

This study analysed the clinical symptoms and haematological changes of a rural population in Concei ção do Castelo, Espirito Santo, Brazil. For evaluation of symptomatology exposure to pesticides, 142 rural workers were interviewed. Of these, 22 workers were selected for haematological tests randomly as to evaluate haematological changes during the period of exposure to pesticides. Haematologica l analyses showed that erythrocytes, haemoglobin, haematocrit, mean corpuscular (VCM) volume, mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) are in accordance with the reference...
