The security of radical trachelectomy in the treatment of IA –IIA cervical carcinoma requires further evaluation: updated meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis

ConclusionsIt is safe and effective for early-stage patients with cervical cancer whose lesions are less than 2  cm to receive RVT. For those patients with lesions 2–4 cm who desire fertility preservation and without any evidence of infertility, RAT can be a feasible alternative to RH under fully informed consent. However, more CCTs with larger sample size are still required for further validation.

Conclusions: Due to the complexity of the behavior and biology of cells, scientists' primary focus should be on detection and elimination of sources of inflammation. Antiparasitic medications, and also antiviral, antibiotic, and antifungal medications should be thought of as underrecognized, underappreciated, and forgotten medications that can be part of cancer therapy. The information offered in this review suggests scientists should think of cancer not only as a metabolic disease but also as a metabolic parasite and should consider using antiparasitic medications under a new understanding of the role of inflammation, inf...

Conclusions: While case reports cannot be considered as proof of efficacy, these cases added to others of patients treated with the same method would suggest that this is a viable option for those patients whose disease cannot be treated successfully with other modalities. Conclusions and Perspectives It is interesting that watershed events, such as the loss of Neu5Gc from the glycocalyx of human cells have occurred numerous times in many mammalian and other vertebrate species. These cases of convergent evolution represent precious opportunities for increased understanding of evolutionary processes. In some respects, Neu5Gc is an ideal self-molecule as it is “private” to vertebrates and, based on current data, has yet to be successfully mimicked by microbes. Against the background of this benefit, the loss of Neu5Gc appears paradoxical and may implicate strong selective regimes,...

Conclusion This case illustrates a presentation of endometriosis in a postmenopausal woman mimicking advanced mullerian malignancy. The patient's estrogenic state from obesity in combination with the agonist action of the tamoxifen likely contributed to her rare presentation. While findings such as a thickened endometrial stripe are typical of tamoxifen use, such widespread proliferation of endometriosis resulting in a pelvic mass, genito-urinary obstruction, and plaque-like pelvic spread are not. Précis Endometriosis is a benign estrogen dependent condition rarely problematic in a postmenopausal patient. Tamoxifen ...

Iron is a well-documented carcinogen based on both animal models and observational studies in humans. There are limited published data on pseudoxanthomatous salpingitis, an uncommon condition characterized by the accumulation of histiocytes containing iron and iron-related compounds—lipofuscin and hemosiderin—in the lamina propria of the fallopian tube. The clinical and pathologic features of 49 consecutive cases were evaluated. The mean patient age was 53. A history of endometriosis was found in 20%, infertility in 17%, and tubal ligation in 7%. Thirteen (27%) had endometrial cancer and 2 patients had prior ra...
