A successful lung transplant from a 3-year-old donor after controlled cardiac death followed by ex  vivo lung perfusion: A case report

A 3-year-old male patient (blood type A+) with primary pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) was listed for transplantation because of progressive PVS involving all 4 pulmonary veins with elevated right ventricular pressures and ongoing hemoptysis (Figure  1). Initial management included 3 cardiac catheterizations with balloon dilations, followed by sutureless repair of right pulmonary veins with simultaneous workup for lung transplantation (Ltx). The patient was listed for bilateral Ltx with recurrence of aggressive restenosis 2 months after surgi cal intervention, and balloon dilations were performed as a bridge to transplant.
