The Future of Nursing and the Advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

On January 1, 2016, the United Nations (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was enacted following unanimous adoption by all Member States of the UN General Assembly just months earlier (UN, 2016). The SDGs are based on five major themes considered essential for long-term human well-being and survival: People, Planet, Peace, Prosperity, and Partnership.
