Structure and mechanical properties of NiCrSiB coatings, reinforced by hard Nb-based particles, cladded by electron beam, revealed in the air

Publication date: 2019Source: Materials Today: Proceedings, Volume 12, Part 1Author(s): Tatiana Zimogliadova, Ekaterina Drobyaz, Daria Mul, Anastasia EgorovaAbstractThe structure, phase composition and mechanical properties of Ni-base self-fluxing coatings, cladded by electron beam, revealed in the air atmosphere, were investigated. By variation of NiCrSiB-alloy/(Nb-B)-addition ratio (0-35 wt. %of (Nb-B)-compound) in the initial powder mixtures different phase composition of cladded coatings was obtained. Microhardness and wear resistance were measured to estimate quality of surface layers. The coating, cladded with maximum of Nb and B addiction (35 wt. %) demonstrates the highest level of these properties.

Depression and Addiction Throughout life, everyone has bad days and low moments. We all get into a “funk” or have times when we feel the blues. While this is a normal part of life and reaction to stress or traumatic events, depression is an entirely different thing. According to the American Psychiatry Associaton, Depression is a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. The condition causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. It can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease a pers...

This report from a respected media source can be expected to fuel more animated discussions about internet or social media addiction in the public square. As I pointed out in a  recent article at, a meticulous examination of the evidence is crucial before concluding internet/social media addiction is an actual disorder. Such a determination may not just impact the fiscal stability of the health care system but, more importantly, may pose a potential threat to freedom of speec h.

In the June 14thWall Street Journal, Johns Hopkins University bioethicist Travis Rieder, in an excellent  essay, shared with readers his battle with pain resulting from a devastating accident, the effectiveness of opioids in controlling the pain, and the hell he went through when he was too rapidly tapered off of the opioids to which he had become physically dependent. Like most patients requiring long term pain management with opioids, he developed a physical dependence, which is often  mistakenly equated with addiction by policymakers and many in the media. The aggressive schedule launched me into wit...

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday formally received 22 bills from the Legislature, including a measure that Attorney General Ashley Moody has sought to help in a legal fight against the pharmaceutical industry. The bill (HB 1253) would allow lawyers working for the state to have access to information in a prescription drug database that was created to prevent “doctor shopping” by drug addicts and traffickers. The information in the database could help provide evidence in civil cases, including…

CONCLUSION: Cocaine use may be responsible for asthma onset, acute asthma exacerbations (which may require intubation and invasive ventilation) or death related to asthma. Cocaine use must be systematically considered in the case of asthma exacerbation and practitioners must help cocaine users to stop their consumption. ConclusionsA history of mood elevation experiences or hypomania states is related to dampened response to a low dose of a psychostimulant drug, extending previous findings with dampened response to alcohol. This phenotype for mood disorders of dampened responses to drugs may contribute to risk for subsequent drug use or misuse.

This study makes the first attempt to tackle this problem by developing five behavioural archetypes, characterising how social media users differ in their problematic attachments to them. The archetypes are meant to facilitate effective ideation, creativity, and communication during the design process and helping the elicitation and customisation of the variability in the requirements and design of behaviour change tools for combatting problematic usage of social media. This was achieved by using a four-phase qualitative study where the diary study method was considered at the initial stage, and also the refinement and con...

Conclusions: Adolescents who used pod products showed more signs of nicotine dependence than non-pod users. Pediatricians should be vigilant in identifying dependence symptoms in their patients who use e-cigarettes, particularly in those using pod devices.
