The human amniotic fluid mesenchymal stem cells therapy on, SKOV3, ovarian cancer cell line

ConclusionsOur findings showed that hAFMSCs have natural tumor tropism, and can release soluble factors in a cell culture, which cause an efficient anticancer effect. Thus, we can use hAFMSCs for complete anticancer therapy on SKOV3 cell line at cell culture condition and possibly in vivo in the near future.

Purpose of review To investigate the JZE alterations in gynecological and obstetrical disorders and impact on diagnosis, prognosis and treatment. Recent findings JZE was found to be significantly extended in patients with endometriosis, leading to the conclusion that endometriosis is a primary disease of the uterus, much like adenomyosis. Statistical correlation was then demonstrated between the severity of endometriosis and the depth of the adenomyosis infiltrates, hence the thickening of the JZE. Stem cells, predominantly found in the JZE were also found in histological sections of leiomyoma, suggested to be the ori...

BOSTON (CBS) – Not only do IUDs prevent pregnancy, they may lower the risk of ovarian cancer in the women who use them. Researchers at the University of Colorado reviewed a dozen prior studies involving several thousand patients and found that women who used IUDs were up to 32-percent less likely than other women to develop ovarian cancer. It’s not clear why, but scientists found that the hormones released by some IUDs may block estrogen which help ovarian tumor glow. And having a foreign body in the uterus may trigger the immune system to help fight cancer. Birth control pills have also been linked to a lower ...

ConclusionEndometrial cancer, specifically type I endometrioid adenocarcinoma and its precursor lesions are strongly associated with unopposed estrogen states such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), obesity as well as nulliparity. Patients seeking assisted reproductive technologies make up a subset of these patients and strongly desire to maintain their fertility. Progesterone therapy for select patients may be a safe and effective temporary treatment for endometrial carcinoma and atypical precursor lesions prior to starting IVF-ET. IVF-ET is very effective in treating such patients.

Conclusions: HE4 protein value strongly depends on the patient's age and smoking. The serum concentration of HE4 marker increases with the duration of pregnancy. Understanding the normal range of HE4 protein enables the correct interpretation of marker measurements. This may result in an earlier and more effective diagnosis of ovarian cancer. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of the p53 signature was significantly lower in parous women and pregnant women. This decreased incidence of early phase serous carcinogenesis may be one of the possible mechanisms underlying HGSOC risk reduction among parous women. PMID: 31576690 [PubMed - in process]

Quality of life transplantations (e.g. hand, face, etc.), in contrast to life-saving transplantations (e.g. heart, lungs, etc.), have become increasingly popular and have gained more acceptance in the medical and lay communities. In the last two decades transplants for sexual and reproductive organs—specifically allogenic transplantations of the uterus, ovary, and penis—have emerged as yet another type of quality of life transplants. The purpose of uterus transplantations is to allow cisgender women with absolute uterine factor infertility to experience pregnancy. Although the first uterus transplantation took ...

ConclusionsThis case reports shows that MNC IVF conception after OTC is successful in patients with tissue partially placed in a peritoneal window. If the tissue placed in the peritoneal window becomes active, MNC IVF can be performed. If the tissue placed in the remaining ovary becomes active, natural conception should be pursued.

Conclusions: A close collaboration between Cancer and Fertility Center in a tertiary care hospital is essential to provide a good health service in oncological patients. Offering fertility preservation is no longer considered optional and must be included in every therapeutic program for women who receive an oncological diagnosis in their reproductive age. Oocyte cryopreservation is a good option for fertility preservation for women facing cancer treatment and our results, despite on a small sample, are encouraging. We also confirm a low utilization rate as only 4.5% of patients returned to use their gametes.

Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) refers to ovarian loss of function under the age of 40 years and lead those patients to usually present by amenorrhea and infertility. One of the reasons of POI is chemotherapy for cancer patients. It is broadly believed that chemotherapy drugs may vastly eliminate granulosa cells which are essential for oocyte survival and follicular development. Our previous study shows that transplantation of human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cell (hBM-MSC) in chemotherapy induced POI mouse ovary can reverse POI through correction of serum hormonal level, promote follicular generation in ovar...

The objective of this study was to prospectively assess pregnancy rate, time to pregnancy, and corresponding measures of ovarian reserve in a cancer survivor cohort compared to similar-aged controls to determine factors associated with pregnancy in cancer survivors.
