Selective Correction of Genotype Yield by Probucol in HDL-Deficient Mice Propagation.

CONCLUSIONS: Probucol corrected deflection of genotype distribution in propagation of the LCAT-deficient mice but not the ABCA1-deficient mice at the weaning stage, apparently not through normalization of hypoalphalipoproteinemia. PMID: 31092744 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Compared to the performance of the yeast without treatment, P. caribbica induced by 250 μg/mL of VC potentially enhanced biocontrol activity against P. expansum and high growth rate on the apple surface when stored at 20&d...

CONCLUSIONSĖ NOACs reduced all-cause mortality in patients with or at risk for CAD or PAD, even though they increased the risk of major bleeding. Future studies regarding the best doses of NOACs are warranted. PMID: 31625706 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In order to suggest some factors that may help considering the mechanism of the incidents, this study fo...

In this study, AT1-AAs were detected in the sera of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and the positive rate was 44.44% vs. 17.46% in non-PAD volunteers. In addition, analysis showed that AT1-AAs level was positively correlated with PAD. To reveal the causal relationship between AT1-AAs and vascular aging, an AT1-AAs-positive rat model was established by active immunization. The carotid pulse wave velocity was higher, and the aortic endothelium-dependent vasodilatation was attenuated significantly in the immunized rats. Morphological staining showed thickening of the aortic wall. Histological examination showe...

ConclusionsDifferential disease classification among men who may be recommended to undergo and then consider whether to accept a prostate biopsy leads to inaccurate identification of prostate cancer risk factors. Imputing a man’s prostate cancer status reduces detection bias. Covariate adjustment does not address the problem of outcome misclassification. Cohorts evaluating incident prostate cancer should collect longitudinal screening and biopsy data to adjust for this potential bias.

Authors: Buccheri S, Capodanno D, James S, Angiolillo DJ Abstract Introduction: Potent platelet inhibition reduces the risk of thrombotic complications including myocardial infarction and death in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Targeting different pathways involved in thrombotic processes have synergistic effects and more effectively counteract thrombosis both in the acute and long-term following an ACS. Unavoidably, more potent platelet inhibition increases the risk of bleeding. In light of the adverse prognostic implications associated with bleeding, including increased mortality, safety aspects wit...

Authors: Iqbal Z, Dhage S, Mohamad JB, Abdel-Razik A, Donn R, Malik R, Ho JH, Liu Y, Adam S, Isa B, Stefanutti C, Soran H Abstract Introduction: Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors are novel drugs that have been developed since the discovery of the PCSK9 protein in 2003. In addition to background statin treatment they reduce low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) to unprecedented levels and have shown encouraging results in improving cardiovascular events. Concerns regarding the safety of PCSK9 inhibitors and very low LDL-C have somewhat been allayed after several longer-term prosp...

Authors: Campos J, Brill A Abstract Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a disease with high prevalence and morbidity. It can lead to pulmonary embolism with severe respiratory insufficiency and risk of death. Mechanisms behind all stages of DVT, such as thrombosis commencement, propagation, and resolution, remain incompletely understood. Animal models represent an invaluable tool to explore these problems and identify new targets for DVT prevention and treatment. In this review, we discuss existing models of venous thrombosis, their advantages and disadvantages, and applicability to studying different aspects of DVT path...
