Abstract AIM OF THE STUDY: The aim of the study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics of patients with previous stroke (either ischemic or hemorrhagic), who developed status epilepticus (SE) mimicking a stroke relapse. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of patients brought to hospital by the emergency service between December 2016 and January 2018 with a stroke code as possible candidates for intravenous thrombolysis and who had already have a previous stroke. CONCLUSIONS: Despite neurocysticercosis being the most common cause of epilepsy worldwide, there is currently no evidence available regarding the use of AEDs as seizure prophylaxis among people presenting with symptoms other than seizures. For those presenting with seizures, there is no reliable evidence regarding the duration of treatment required. There is therefore a need for large scale randomised controlled trials to address these questions. PMID: 31608991 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Decreased in BEN was associated with the intrinsic alertness RT and phasic alertness in patients with rTLE. The abnormal FC in brain regions with altered entropy suggests reconstruction of brain functional connectivity. AbstractBackgroundTo date, no functional MRI (fMRI) studies have focused on brain entropy in right temporal lobe epilepsy (rTLE) patients. Here, we characterized brain entropy (BEN) alterations in patients with rTLE using resting ‐state functional MRI(rs‐fMRI) and explored the relationship between BEN and alertness.MethodThirty ‐one rTLE patients and 33 controls underwent MRI scanning to investigate d...
