Authors: Blumenfeld O, Hampe CS, Shulman L, Chen R, Laron Z Abstract Recent epidemiological surveys performed in Australia, USA and Israel demonstrate that Rotavirus vaccination correlates with an attenuated prevalence and/or incidence of early childhood diabetes (T1D). Other studies failed to confirm the above. PMID: 32780950 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study assessing Pfn1 in type 1 MI patients in relation to the chosen parameters. Pfn1 may be a biochemical tool to objectify information on OPT in MI patients. We found an association between Pfn1 and post-PCI TIMI flow, antiplatelet drug administration and diabetes mellitus. PMID: 32767339 [PubMed - in process]

Abstract OBJECTIVES: to analyze how children with type 1 diabetes mellitus and their families explain the pathology, based on their understanding of the factors related to the discovery of diabetes, the etiology, treatment, and prognosis of the disease. METHODS: qualitative methodological approach, based on medical anthropology and the narrative method. In-depth interviews were conducted with 12 families of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus attending follow-up consultations at a specialized center. The statements were subjected to inductive thematic analysis. RESULTS: the explanatory models identifi...

Authors: Ji LS, Sun XH, Zhang X, Zhou ZH, Yu Z, Zhu XJ, Huang LY, Fang M, Gao YT, Li M, Gao YQ Abstract Helping B cells and antibody responses is a major function of CD4+T helper cells. Follicular helper T (Tfh) cells are identified as a subset of CD4+T helper cells, which is specialized in helping B cells in the germinal center reaction. Tfh cells express high levels of CXCR5, PD-1, IL-21, and other characteristic markers. Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that the dysregulation of Tfh cells is involved in infectious, inflammatory, and autoimmune diseases, including lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) i...

Authors: El-Mokhtar MA, Elsherbiny NM, Sayed D, Raafat DM, Askar E, Hussein A, Abdel-Malek MAY, Shalaby AM Abstract B regulatory cells (Breg) refer to characteristic subsets of B cells that generally exert anti-inflammatory functions and maintain peripheral tolerance mainly through their ability to secrete interleukin-10 (IL10). Dysregulation in the function of Breg cells was reported in several autoimmune diseases. However, the relation between Breg and children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) is poorly understood. Thus, this study is aimed at determining whether Breg cells play a role in T1D in children or not, so we ...

In this study, we investigated the effect of hypertension on DPN by investigating the changes in unmyelinated and myelinated nerve fibers in hypertensive rats with alloxan (AL)-induced T1DM. Thirteen-week-old WBN/Kob rats with AL-induced diabetes were allocated to receive tap water only (AL group), tap water containing 0.5% saline (0.5AN group), or tap water containing 0.75% saline (0.75AN group) for 15 weeks. Hyperglycemia was maintained for 15 weeks, and the animals were euthanized at 28 weeks. By 23 weeks of age, the systolic blood pressure was significantly higher in the 0.75AN and 0.5AN groups than in the AL group and...

This study was conducted from October 2018 to May 2019 and used a cross-sectional design. Based on literature reviews and results of focus groups, a 28-item role strain scale was developed and administered to 519 women with diabetes in Taiwan. Item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, concurrent validity, and reliability testing were used to examine the psychometric characteristics of the scale. Results A 9-item role strain scale including subscales for role guilt and role conflict, supported by exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, was produced. High role strain s...
