Expert opinion: judging suitability for newborn circumcision

Circumcision remains a topic that generates significant medical and ethical controversy. Yet, approximately 30% of boys are circumcised worldwide. Newborn clamp circumcision is a relatively simple and low-risk surgical procedure, which is often performed by pediatricians, family physicians, and obstetricians. However, these physicians may lack formal training and experience on how to perform the procedure. Complications are rare  but potentially devastating and may result in additional surgery to say the least.
