Walmart charts new course by steering workers to high-quality imaging centers

I have been in radiology for over 25 years and my very first registry card from ARRT listed my profession as a technologist. Get educated on the details of a profession before authoring an article on it. Secondly, I applaud efforts to increase quality by Wal-mart. Having said that, the responsibility doesn't solely fall on Imaging. The surgeon performing the procedure should shoulder most of it as they are the ones making the decisions to course of treatment. I agree that Imaging has misreads that impact the patient outcome, but I have never run across a surgeon worth his or her salt that doesn't personally review the Imaging before making a treatment decision. 5/16/2019 4:11:39 AMdergon https://www.auntminnie.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=577359   ALready under discusion n the thread linked above

Authors: Proboszcz M, Mycroft K, Paplinska-Goryca M, Górska K, Nejman-Gryz P, Jankowski P, Zak N, Krenke R Abstract Blood eosinophilia has been proposed as a surrogate marker for airway eosinophilia and as a predictor of treatment response in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between blood and sputum eosinophils and to investigate the association between blood and sputum eosinophil count and clinical features of mild-to-moderate COPD. We performed a retrospective analysis of blood and sputum eosinophil count, as well as demographic and lung func...

Authors: Frykholm E, Lima VP, Selander HV, Nyberg A, Janaudis-Ferreira T Abstract While the mechanisms underlying exercise limitations and symptoms during leg activities have been investigated in detail, knowledge of potential differences between leg and arm activities are not well understood and results from individual studies are contradictory. Thus, the aim of the present study was to synthesize physiological and symptomatic responses during activities involving the arms relative to activities involving the legs in people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Any study with a cross-sectional compari...

Conclusions: The constantly increasing prevalence of NAFLD in the general population can contribute to a growing role of NAFLD/NASH in HCC epidemiology. Moreover, some particular challenges specific for patients with liver steatosis may impede proper HCC diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. PMID: 31631714 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Is this fate the only destiny for mitochondrial-leaked electrons? When Cynomolgus monkeys were injected intravenously with reactive oxygen species (ROS) in...

Conclusion: There is evidence that the bystander effects for both lethality and mutagenicity occurred in the unirradiated half of the cells, in which only half of the cells were irradiated with the carbon ions. These results suggest that the bystander cellular effects via gap-junction-mediated cell-cell communication are dependent on the type of radiation. PMID: 31633439 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: It has been concluded that effective atomic number and electron density of malathion is bigger than the other drugs and the variations in values of Zeff and Nel for all drugs depend on chemical compositions and photon energy where the K-absorption edge of elements may affect the energy dependence of Zeff and Nel. It should also be noted that the buildup of photons is less in malathion and carbachol and is more in tabun and parathion compared with other drugs. Photon interaction parameters evaluated in the present study may be beneficial in radiation dosimetry and therapy. PMID: 31633438 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: SIF + XRT caused changes in patterns of endothelial cell death and survival, proinflammatory molecule release, and adhesion molecule expression at early time points post-XRT associated with early reduction of immune cell recruitment. These findings suggest that SIF could mediate its radioprotective effects in irradiated lungs by limiting excessive immune cell homing via vascular endothelium into damaged lung tissue and curtailing the overall inflammatory response to radiation.
