DiscussionL-CRS/HIPEC can be performed when patients are unexpectedly found to have disease, provided the appendiceal pathology is low grade and the PCI score is low. There are potential benefits to this approach, with a shorter length of hospital stay and faster functional recovery when compared with traditional open surgery.

Conclusion We have reviewed the literature and identified blood biomarkers with the highest discriminative abilities as determined by operating characteristics in four commonly encountered clinical situations: diagnosing concussion, predicting the need for a CT scan after mTBI, predicting delayed recovery after mTBI, and predicting poor outcome after sTBI. The top performers in each category may provide insight into pathogenic mechanisms of TBI that most influence the measured endpoint. Nonetheless, many challenges remain before these biomarkers can be incorporated into clinical practice. In particular, it remains unclear...

This study hypothesized that similar VOCs might be detected after HBOT. Methods: Ten healthy volunteers of the Royal Netherlands Navy underwent six HBOT sessions (95 min at 253 kPa, including three 5-min “air breaks”), i.e., on five consecutive days followed by another session after 2 days of rest. At 30 min before the dive, and at 30 min, 2 and 4 h post-dive, exhaled breath was collected and followed by PFT. Exhaled breath samples were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). After univariate tests and correlation of retention times, ion fragments could be identified using a reference data...

Conclusion: Although surgical intervention should be reserved for specific complications, its delay increases the incidence of NEC related mortality. Though rare, fungal infection should be suspected especially in cases with worsening signs of typhlitis despite broad antimicrobial coverage. Early management and better supportive care of underlying Co-morbid conditions can decrease NEC related mortality.DisclosuresNo relevant conflicts of interest to declare.
