Intravitreal and posterior subtenon triamcinolone acetonide for severe acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy

ABSTRACT A 21-year-old man presented with visual acuity of 20/200 in both eyes. The fundus picture, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography revealed severe bilateral acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy and serous macular detachments. We treated the patient with triamcinolone acetonide, an intravitreal injection (4 mg/0.1 mL) in one eye and a posterior subtenon injection (40 mg/1 mL) in the other eye. Within 2 weeks the visual acuity was 20/80 in both eyes. At the 8-week follow-up visit his vision was 20/63 bilaterally. One year later the vision remained 20/63 in both eyes. In this patient, the triamcinolone acetonide injections, whether administered intravitreally or via the posterior subtenon route, achieved similar anatomic and functional recovery results.RESUMO Um homem de 21 anos apresentou acuidade visual de 20/200 em ambos os olhos.

Tools have been developed to accurately diagnose and evaluate coronary artery disease. Coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) scans provide detailed imaging along with analysis to in order to deliver precise analysis and prognostic information. We sought to evaluate the radiation doses of the 256 detector CT scanner to a 64 slice scanner across a similar profile of pati...

CONCLUSIONS TOS can be evaluated by CE-MRA, T2-STIR-SPACE, and VIBE during a single examination, with a reduced contrast material dose. This imaging modality performs well in showing the anatomical structure of the neurovascular bundle and the cause of the compression. PMID: 31600179 [PubMed - in process]

Imaging procedures including echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, and selective angiography revealed an aberrant connection of the azygos vein and the left atrium, a membrane in the right atrium consistent with cor triatriatum dexter, and a p...

CONCLUSION: The evaluation of our treatment results shows that the therapy is a safe and promising method. Patients with a CCS without existing RPE defects benefit from the treatment with the 2RT® nanolaser, which is associated with an improvement of the macula function. We herein report the case of a 45-year-old woman who developed a continuous hemicranial headache subsequent to vertebral artery dissection (VAD). After remission of VAD, the patient repeatedly experienced right forehead and temporal region throbbing headache, accompanied by nausea, ocular hyperemia and lacrimation of the right eye, nasal congestion, and rhinorrhea. Magnetic resonance angiography did not reveal the recurrence of dissection. Daily use of indomethacin (190.8 mg/day) showed an excellent effect on the headache, suggesting that the patient had developed hemicrania continua subsequent to VAD.
