Association between fragmented QRS and left ventricular dysfunction in acromegaly patients.

Association between fragmented QRS and left ventricular dysfunction in acromegaly patients. Acta Cardiol. 2019 May 13;:1-7 Authors: Dereli S, Özer H, Özer N, Bayramoğlu A, Kaya A Abstract BACKGROUND: In acromegaly patients; it has been observed that heart failure may develop even in the absence of predisposing factors such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, so a specific acromegalic cardiomyopathy has been suggested. We aimed to evaluate the fQRS frequency in acromegaly patients and the left ventricular (LV) functions of acromegaly patients with fQRS. METHODS: Our study included 60 acromegalic patients. Each patient underwent conventional echocardiography and tissue Doppler imaging. The patients included were separated into two groups: those with (n:23) and without (n:37) fQRS. RESULTS: Significant differences were identified between fQRS(+) and fQRS (-) groups with respect to disease duration (p

The objective of the study was to investigate the antidiabetic and antioxidant effects of Foeniculum vulgare in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat. METHODS: The effects of the leaves aqueous extract (LAE) of Foeniculum vulgare (F. vulgare) at a dose of 10 mg/kg on blood glucose levels were evaluated in normal and streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats. Histopathological changes were also evaluated in liver in STZ-induced rats. RESULTS: Single oral administration of F. vulgare LAE reduced blood glucose levels 6 h after administration in STZ diabetic rats (p

In this study, predictors of LOS were identified using a survival model that considered age as a continuous variable, separate comorbidities, and the discharge destination. Our findings are consistent with earlier reports and confirm the strong associations linking LOS to diabetes, day of surgery, and discharge destination in France. We also identified predictors of discharge to rehabilitation and of readmission within 30 days.Level of evidenceIV, retrospective observational cohort study.

While isolates of capsular genotype K1 belonging to sequence type (ST) 23 have been the most prominent causative pathogen of this syndrome, other virulent clones have been implicated sporadically in recent years.A 68-year-old woman with diabetes in O...

As a calcium-dependent serine/threonine protein kinase involved in podocyte injury, protein kinase C isoform α (PKCα) was reported to regulate the phosphorylation of p66SHC. However, the role of PKCα/p66SHC...
