Collagen fibres grow like a sunflower

(Springer) In a new study published in EPJ E, two researchers at the Universite Paris-sud in Orsay, France, examine the patterns developed by collagen fibers, found in the tissues of virtually all animals. What is fascinating about the process is that one step in the fibers' formation is similar to the growth of sunflower petals.
