CONCLUSIONS: Both LASIK flaps and SMILE caps show a significant postoperative rethickening. SMILE corneas present higher optical densities than LASIK corneas in the early postoperative period, with a significant decrease thereafter and up to 3 months. These findings correlate with the delayed visual recovery observed after SMILE. PMID: 32980816 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL IMPLICATIONS: Genetic findings and the clinical picture of our patients with ULD were in accordance with available studies. The most common genetic defect underlying ULD was homozygosity for an unstable expansion of a dodecamer repeat in the CSTB gene. Patients with action or/and stimulus sensitive myoclonus or intractable myoclonus epilepsy, especially with onset in late childhood/adolescence should be screened for ULD. Authors: Ahmed AA, Hatch KM Abstract This review summarizes the advantages of Small-incision lenticule extraction (SMILE), including improved patient intraoperative experience, improved postoperative ocular surface, low incidence of regression, low re-treatment rates, and advantageous biomechanical corneal stability. Visual and refractive outcomes are similar to those achieved with LASIK, notably in large population studies. Since the inception of SMILE almost 10 years ago, the procedure has been rapidly growing in popularity. With the implementation of the novel SMILE technology in their practice, refractive ...

VISUAL AND REFRACTIVE OUTCOMES WITH A NEW TOPOGRAPHY-INTEGRATED WAVEFRONT-GUIDED LASIK PROCEDURE. Curr Eye Res. 2020 Sep 09;: Authors: Uceda-Montañés A, Rogers M, Piñero DP Abstract PURPOSE: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) using a new approach for the calculation of the ablation profile based on wavefront vertexing from pupil plane to corneal. METHODS: One hundred eyes of 50 patients (age, 21-41 years) with low and moderate myopia were enrolled in this prospective case series. All of them underwent topography-integrated wavefront-guid...
