Halogenated boroxine dipotassium trioxohydroxytetrafluorotriborate K2[B3O3F4OH] inhibits emerging multidrug-resistant and β-lactamase-producing opportunistic pathogens. Drug Dev Ind Pharm. 2019 Aug 16;:1-21 Authors: Maravić A, Rončević T, Krce L, Ilić N, Galić B, Čikeš Čulić V, Carev I Abstract Halogenated boroxine dipotassium trioxohydroxytetrafluorotriborate, K2[B3O3F4OH] (boroxine) was previously shown to be very effective in inhibition of several carcinoma cell lines, including the skin cancer. Here, we investigated its antimicrobial potential by targeting the multidrug-resistan...

ConclusionThis is the first multicentre report of antifungal resistance rates among candidaemia isolates in Turkey, suggesting low resistance rates in general. Due to varying rates of fluconazole resistance in C. parapsilosis SC isolates that was detected at remarkably high levels in some centres, further studies are warranted to explore the source, clonal relatedness and resistance mechanisms of the isolates.

ConclusionsTaken together, our results demonstrated that PAS resistance and mutations in katG, inhA promoter or oxyR-ahpC intergenic region in INH resistant M. tuberculosis has little effect on pasiniazid susceptibility.

AbstractPurposeThe aim of this study was to evaluate if health and oral health status of children and adolescents with different stages of CKD are associated with their health-related quality of life (HRQoL), oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) and socioeconomic and demographic conditions.MethodsOne hundred children and adolescents with CKD were age and gender matched to 100 individuals without CKD (mean age  ± SD = 13.04 ± 2.57). Oral health was characterised by means of gingival bleeding index (GBI), plaque index (PI), the decayed, missing, and filled ...

This study aimed to assess the safety and effectiveness of cinacalcet in managing chronic dialysis patients with severe SHPT. METHODS: This retrospective study included 26 patients [age: 52 ± 12 years; 55% females; time on dialysis: 54 (4-236) months] on hemodialysis (N = 18) or peritoneal dialysis (N = 8) with severe SHPT (intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) level> 600 pg/mL) and hyperphosphatemia and/or persistent hypercalcemia treated with cinacalcet. The patients were followed for 12 months. Their serum calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and iPTH levels were measured at baseline and o...
