Prophylactic radiotherapy — once offered routinely after invasive procedures for pleural mesothelioma — is an unnecessary treatment for patients, according to the most recent study from the United Kingdom. Results from a large, multicenter clinical trial have shown the treatment — used regularly for almost two decades — does little to prevent chest-wall metastasis that can occur with mesothelioma cancer. “This should be helpful for patients to know if their oncologist is offering something they don’t really need,” clinical oncologist Dr. Neil Bayman, associate medical director at t...

This is partly in contrast to adult patients. Further research should be conducted in a subgroup of patients with bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis or other comorbidities to better understand the association of allergic diathesis and olfactory function and the putative pathogenesis of olfactory dysfunction. What is known:• The association between smell impairment and chroni...

In all patients race, nationality, sex, age, country of infestation, location of the disease, clinical picture, laboratory and instrumental examinations and therapy were collected. In six patients (4 males and 2 females), we made a diagnosis, based on the history and clinical picture, of bullous HRCLM. The infestation was characterized by single or multiple blisters, round or oval in shape,...
