Comment on: Endoscopic sutured procedures for primary treatment of obesity and weight-related disease: an evolving therapy
Obesity- and weight-related disease is a worldwide epidemic with evolving strategies of treatment ranging from medical therapies to surgical interventions. Surgical therapy has proven to be effective and durable, with longer-term data accruing. However, many, and in fact the majority, of patients do not undergo surgery, with reports varying from 1% to 2% of eligible patients. Some patients are not eligible for surgery due to co-morbid disease or do not have access to such care. Many prefer not to undergo surgery.
