CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis found cardiovascular factors to be the main causes for both 30-day and 1‑year rehospitalization. Heart failure represented the most common cardiovascular event at both short-term and mid-term follow-up. Several baseline characteristics and procedure-related factors were deemed unfavorable predictors of readmission. Importantly, transfemoral access and female gender were associated with a lower risk of readmission. PMID: 31807789 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: Deficiencies in public knowledge and insufficient provider practices are likely contributing to the suboptimal rates of HPV vaccination among eligible males. Additionally, eligible males are not interested in speaking with their healthcare providers about either HPV or the HPV vaccine. If the rates of HPV vaccination within the male population are to increase, health educators, public health proponents, and vaccine advocates need to devise a more effective approach to disseminate this information to eligible male recipients. A couple years ago, BioSig Technologies, Inc. was poised to apply for FDA clearance to market its technology to improve treatment of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia. Then its scientific advisors advised the Minneapolis company to put more work into that technology, a hardware-software combination designed to present clearer signals during electrophysiology studies and catheter ablation. The technology, Pure EP, is designed to cut through the background noise of the lab and its equipment during cardiac recordings, enabling physicians to target and neutralize the areas of the heart that are causing atria...

Conclusions: Many unnecessary tests are obtained to evaluate syncope. Selecting tests based on history and examination and prioritizing less expensive and higher yield tests would ensure a more informed and cost-effective approach to evaluating older patients with syncope._____________________________________________________________________________4)    Reed MJ.  The ROSE (Risk Stratification of syncope in the emergency department) Study.  J Am Coll Cardiol, 2010; 55:713-721, doi:10.1016/j.jacc.2009.09.049  Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop and validate a clinical deci...
