Abstract Fetal growth restriction (FGR) diagnosis is often made by fetal biometric ultrasound measurements orDoppler evaluation, but most babies are only diagnosed after birth, using the birth weight as a proxy for intrauterine development. The higher risks of neurodevelopmental delay, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular illness associated with FGR impose a shift on the focus during pregnancy. New methodological approaches, like metabolomics, can provide novel biomarkers for intrauterine fetal development. Recent evidence on metabolites involved with fetal growth and weight show a consistent role played by lipids (espec...

AbstractEhlers –Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a genetically heterogeneous group of inherited connective tissue disorders classified into six major types with a variable collection of findings and different inheritance patterns. Although complications occur in about one-half of pregnancies in women with EDS, the maj ority can have a good outcome if managed appropriately. Classic EDS is characterized by joint hypermobility, loose skin with poor healing and easy bruising, musculoskeletal problems with chronic pain and at risk for pre-term delivery. In addition, the vascular form of EDS can have cardiac anomalies, aneurysms...

AbstractPurposeTo evaluate the clinical outcomes after fresh transfer of blastocysts cultured from vitrified –thawed cleavage embryos (VTCE) compared with conventional frozen–thawed blastocysts transfer (FBT), or with the usual fresh blastocysts transfer (FRBT).MethodsA total of 155 cycles undergoing fresh transfer of VTCE blastocysts, 4904 cycles undergoing FBT, and 1014 cycles undergoing FRBT were retrospectively analyzed from August 2014 to July 2017. Pregnancy, delivery, and neonatal outcomes were compared after propensity score matching.ResultsVTCE blastocysts ’ transfer resulted in a lower risk of e...
