Closed fracture diagnosed by bedside ultrasonography during hemodialysis session: A first report of seven cases in hemodialysis patients and evaluations of their clinical characteristics.

CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first report of closed fractures of superficial bone diagnosed by bedside ultrasonography during a hemodialysis session. Ultrasonography is especially useful for diagnosis in these cases because it is non-invasive and highly accurate. Doctors should determine a differential diagnosis for closed fractures in patients undergoing dialysis, especially in older, diabetic, and malnourished patients with recent contusions and sustained pain.
