Risk stratification for lymph node metastasis using Epstein –Barr virus status in submucosal invasive (pT1) gastric cancer without lymphovascular invasion: a multicenter observational study

This study investigated the risk for LNM in pT1b GC without LVI based on Epstein –Barr virus (EBV) status in addition to conventional clinicopathological parameters.MethodsIn total, 847 consecutive patients of pT1b GC without LVI who underwent surgery at three high-volume centers between 2005 and 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinicopathological parameters and EBV status were evaluated, and univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to estimate LNM risk. With regard to the presence of those three parameters, risk stratification for LNM was performed and compared with a previously proposed risk classification that included low-risk (LNM

Our aim was to identify differentially expressed circRNAs in GC and explore their potential roles in GC diagnosis and treatment. Methods: Total RNA from tissues was isolated by Hipure Total RNA Mini Kit (Magen, Germany). Qubit 3.0 Fluorometer (Invitrogen, Carlsbad, California) was used for RNA concentration measurement while Agilent 2100 Bioanalyzer (Applied Biosystems, Carlsbad, CA) for RN...

In this study, we developed a novel anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody (mAb), H2Mab-41 (IgG2b, kappa), and the antitumor activity of H2Mab-41 was investigated using mouse xenograft models. Caco-2 cells (human colon cancer cell line), which expresses HER2, were subcutaneously implanted into the flanks of nude mice. H2Mab-41 and control mouse IgG were injected three times into the peritoneal cavity of mice. H2Mab-41 significantly reduced tumor development of Caco-2 xenograft in comparison with the control mouse IgG on days 5, 8, 11, 15, and 19. Taken together, these results suggest that H2Mab-41 is useful for antibody therapy aga...

ConclusionThe results indicated that anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy has an effectual anti-tumor activity and controllable AEs in advanced GC/GEJC patients. Furthermore, overexpression of PD-L1 in advanced GC/GEJC patients had better ORR from anti-PD-1/anti-PD-L1 antibody therapy (PROSPERO registration number: CRD42018116480).

AbstractPurposeTo report the dosimetric feasibility of the radiation technique HALFMOON (Helical ALtered Fractionation for iMplant partial OmissiON) for post-mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) in intermediate –high-risk breast cancer patients with implant-based immediate breast reconstruction, where the clinical target volume (CTV) does not include the whole implant (implant-sparing approach).MethodsIn the HALFMOON technique, the CTV consisted of skin, subcutaneous tissues, and pectoralis major muscle, excluding the implant, chest wall muscles, and rib plane. The HALFMOON plans were compared with conventionally cont...

Authors: Han J, Tu J, Tang C, Ma X, Huang C Abstract Background: Distant metastasis of early gastric cancer is a rare subgroup and poorly understood. The present study is aimed at summarizing the clinicopathological characteristics, prognosis, and management of clinical T1N0M1 (cT1N0M1) gastric cancer. Method: Between 2004 and 2015, patients diagnosed with cT1N0M1 gastric cancer were retrospectively analyzed using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Results: A total of 1093 cT1N0M1 gastric cancer patients were identified. 49 patients (4.5%) received cancer-directed surgery, and ...

Conclusions: H. pylori screening for the adults 50 years of age and older could be cost-effective compared to UGI and endoscopy in high prevalence countries. The main reasons for the superiority of H. pylori screening are that an H. pylori antibody test has a higher sensitivity and specificity than UGI and endoscopy and the benefits to reduce gastric cancer incidence and mortality. WhiteAbstractThe mutagenicity of Direct Black 38, Sudan I, and Para Red were evaluated in the in vivo MutaMouse assay and the in vitro MutaMouse primary hepatocyte (PH) assay. Direct Black 38 is an International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Group 1 carcinogen and a prototypical benzidine-based azo compound that requires azo-reduction to yield a DNA-reactive metabolite. Sudan I and Para Red are structurally related azo compounds that have been detected as illegal c...

Authors: Xie R, Liu J, Yu X, Li C, Wang Y, Yang W, Hu J, Liu P, Sui H, Liang P, Huang X, Wang L, Bai Y, Xue Y, Zhu J, Fang T Abstract Annexin A2 (ANXA2) has been well known to associate with the progress of malignant tumor. However, the biological behavior of ANXA2 in gastric cancer (GC) remains unclear. We made a hypothesis in transcriptome level from TCGA datasets. Then, we used immunohistochemical staining to quantify the expression level of ANXA2 protein in GC tissues compared with adjacent tissues. Quantitative real-time PCR and western blot were used for analyzing ANXA2 expression in human GC (SGC-7901, MKN-4...
