Hypertension (HTN) is one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, contributing to two-thirds of all strokes and half of all coronary disease, and thus representing as a major risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.1 –3 One-quarter of the world's adult population exhibits HTN, and HTN prevalence is estimated to reach 29% by 2025.4 Almost 75% of people with HTN live in developing countries, where people have limited health resources, low awareness about HTN prevention, and consequently poor blood pressure (BP) control.
