New Developments in the Clinical Treatment of Eating Disorders

The eating disorders, because of their etiologic complexity and significant morbidity and mortality, often wreak havoc on patients and their families and pose vexing clinical challenges to treating clinicians. We were so very pleased that the Psychiatric Clinics of North America recognized the critical need for a comprehensive update on these serious illnesses and asked us to gather a group of the most renowned and distinguished international leaders in our field to collaborate in providing it. In part 1, we address the core issues in the diagnosis and classification of the major eating disorders as well as review some of the many progress areas in current clinical research.
